This week, the children have been undertaking a variety of activities based on the story book "Where's My Teddy?" Activity 1: Personal and Social Development, Well Being and Cultural Diversity The children have been thinking about our new class bears and how they can help them to feel welcome in the Under Fives Unit
Activity 2: Language, Literacy and Communication The children have been using a circle map to show their ideas about bears, using ideas, descriptive sentences and simple words.
Activity 3: Mathematical Development The children have been going on a 2D shape hunt using the indoors and outdoors environment.
Activity 4: Physical Development The children have been practising their scissors skills and identifying colours to make placemats for Teddy.
Activity 5: Creative Development The children have been learning the song “If you go down in the woods today…” and thinking about movements that could accompany the song.
Activity 6: Creative Development The children have been using handprints and creating paw prints to create our class displays, considering colours and patterns.
Activity 7: Creative Development The children have been using ICT to create Teddy Bears which will help towards our class displays
The children have also been participating in a variety of other activities provided through the enhanced areas within the Unit, which are linked to the weekly theme and therefore changed on a weekly basis. This includes sand play, water play, role play, dressing up, ICT, construction, investigating, music, collage, cutting and sticking, painting, playdough and clay, number, drawing, mark making, jigsaws, reading, enjoying books and listening to music. The children now have constant access to the outdoors environment and many activities take place outside. The children have access to obstacle courses, play house, slide and play frame, bikes and trikes.
